Benefits of Membership

The Biomarkers Consortium is the preeminent public-private partnership in developing and qualifying biomarkers that have a practical impact on therapeutic development and clinical care.  Join NIH, FDA, PhRMA, CMS, BIO and over 60 companies and non-profit organizations in supporting the efforts of the Consortium as a Contributing Member..

Large or small, public or private, established or growing, your organization will benefit from active participation in the ongoing work of the Consortium.  Membership provides the opportunity to:

  • Participate in the process of identifying and developing new projects as a member of the Consortium’s Steering Committees
  • Get an early window into opportunities to fund individual projects and participate in their execution as part of specific Project Teams
  • Participate in collaborative scientific discussion and debate with leading scientific colleagues from a variety of research sectors and organizations
  • Participate directly in shaping opportunities to share data and resources in unique precompetitive research programs
  • Stay on top of the latest biomarker developments and opportunities
  • Receive frequent updates on the status of the Consortium’s activities and new opportunities for involvement

In addition, industry members are invited to:

  • Participate in the election of up to four industry representatives to serve on the Consortium’s Executive Committee, representing industry’s concerns and expertise.
  • Nominate qualified representatives to disease/therapeutic area-specific Steering Ccommittees. To date the Consortium has formed multi-stakeholder Steering Committees in cancer, Metabolic Disorders, Inflammation and Immunity, and Neuroscience. (All nominations to serve on Steering Committees are subject to approval by the co-chairs of each Steering Committee and ratification by the Executive Committee.)
  • Propose projects for execution by the Consortium.
  • Consider first-tier opportunities to participate in selected projects as funding partners.
  • Assist in the development of new projects by appointing a representative to serve on [project] Working Groups

Members representing non-profit organizations are invited to:

  • Nominate qualified representatives to appropriate disease/therapeutic area Steering Committees. All nominations to serve on Steering Committees are subject to approval by the committee co-chairs.
  • Propose projects for execution by the consortium.
  • Consider first-tier opportunities to participate in selected projects as funding partners.
  • Assist in the development of new projects by appointing a representative to serve on [project] Working Groups

Membership does not require members to fund specific projects developed by The Biomarkers Consortium. Projects are funded based on the discretion of each potential funder, and funding opportunities are offered broadly to all potential stakeholders.
